Spring’s New Beginnings!

Spring is always a time of new beginnings and this year is no different.
Now, more than ever, many people find themselves in the position of new
careers or job changes, new homes and even new financial situations. But
while change can be stressful, it is also a time for fresh starts and new outlooks.
Often, an unexpected change is just what the doctor ordered.
Even something as simple as a weekend trip can elevate us and change our
perspective. The change of scenery can do the mind—and body—good. Here,
in celebration of Mother’s Day, we highlight the mother-daughter bond and
follow writer, Irvina Lew, and her daughter on their first trip together to the
unique escape of Rancho La Puerta (“Back to Your Roots,” 68).
If a trip is not in order for you this year, perhaps a home overhaul can give
you the change you desire. In our article, “Clutter Control” (64), we show you
how to get started on a new, clutter free home life, opening up the door to
all kinds of adjustments and changes. Our organizational experts give you tips
on easy ways to tackle your home shape-up. Then take stock in organizing all
parts of your life such as planning your estate (“Weathering the Storm,” 66),
making time to keep close with good friends (“Keeping Connected,” 88) and
even staying financially balanced during hard times (“Portfolio,” 98).
And speaking of finances, this issue we’ve got an unveiling look at the
growing issue of fiscal infidelity. Imagine your spouse making major life purchases
without consulting you. Or perhaps your spouse has a spending habit
that goes beyond the family budgets. These are the stories we found in
researching this article. During our difficult economic times, the notion of
keeping financial decisions from spouses may seem shocking to some, but as
you‘ll see this pattern is quite prevalent among married couples (“Fiscal
Infidelity,” 62). Here, we shed light on the topic in hope that readers will
understand the importance of communicating with their spouses, not just on
finances, but in all areas of their lives.
As always at this time of year, we bring to you our beauty bonanza with
our “Annual Beauty Black Book” (70). Each year, we highlight our favorite
products and the highly skilled experts around the state. In this issue, we also
unveil tips from the renowned skin guru, Howard Murad, M.D. of Murad
Skincare Inc.. Dr. Murad’s easy skin-changing tips are sure to give you that
envious glow from the inside out (“Skin Deep,” 76).
After you’ve fed your skin, treat your tummy to the tasty delicacies at two
of the state’s beautiful dining spots, Casa Tua and 3030 Ocean (“Delicious
Dish,” 104). These two distinct dining locales share the notion of pampered,
palate pleasing dining—an easy escape anyone would love.
As this issue hits the newsstand I, too, will be starting a new exciting
beginning, one as a newlywed. So for me, change is surely in order as well.
Whatever area of your life is in need of some adjustment or change,
take notes this issue—we’ve got you covered!
Here’s to a fresh start in spring.
