Despite the state of the economy, the fashion world is forging speed ahead. As the economy gets more complicated and stressful, we turn to easy, flawless dressing. Recessionistas have not turned a blind eye to the stunning designs that came down the catwalks. So, while they may be curbing their couture costs, the passion for fashion remains strong.

Here is a taste of the top trends and styles of the spring season ahead. Trends to take note of: metallic hues and accents of all sorts, black and white chic combos, pencil skirts, fashionable pants of all styles and artistic floral prints. But the stand out trend and color du jour is surely the fresh nude shades that dominated the runways of everyone from Valentino and Yves Saint Laurent to Derek Lam and Zac Posen.
